Donna Maya creates techno as narrative electronic music.
Her tracks explore the tension between beauty and hidden realities — moments that appear calm or poetic at first but reveal deeper social and political layers beneath the surface. Using sound design, techno rhythm and theremin, she transforms these contrasts into immersive electronic stories.
Her artistic practice moves between club culture and contemporary art contexts. Her work spans vinyl and digital releases, film music, including Fatih Akin’s Kurz und schmerzlos, turntable concerts with chamber orchestra and DJ, and interdisciplinary performances.
She founded the artist label Sound Sister Records as a platform for her releases and artistic projects.
